美國白宮宣布，美國東部 17 個州及首都所在的華盛頓特區進入緊急狀態，以應對勒索軟體攻擊。上周五 (7 日) ，當地最大的成品油管道營運商 (Colonial Pipeline) 聲稱遭受網路駭客威脅及攻擊，已停運整個管道網路，受此次網路攻擊影響的管道總長約 8,850 公里，每天運輸超過 3.8 億公升的燃料，包括汽油、柴油、航空燃料及其它精煉油品等，佔東海岸約 45%的燃料供應。美國輸油「命脈」被黑客入侵，市場預期美國或需要增加入口海外原油，一度帶動紐約油價上升至約 66 美元水平。

英國首相約翰遜宣布，將於下周一(17 日)進入第三階段放寬防疫措施， 市民可參加最多六人或兩個家庭在室內聚會，酒吧、咖啡店及餐廳亦可再次在於內接待顧客，戲院及運動場等室內娛樂場所亦可恢復營運。市場憧憬當地服務業可望進一步復蘇，帶動英鎊匯價逐步挑戰 1.42 美元水平。
