通用汽車(GM)、豐田汽車(Toyota)、本田汽車(Honda)等美日三大車廠的「聯網車(Connected Cars)」遭美企控告侵犯專利，而一旦法院認同美企侵權主張的話、豐田等車廠恐需判賠數百億日圓。共同通信、日經新聞8日報導，美國專利管理公司Intellectual Ventures(IV)已向美國德州地院控告豐田汽車、本田汽車和通用汽車的聯網車所使用的車用通訊零件侵犯該公司所持有的Wi-Fi相關等10多件專利。IV是在10月19日發起上訴侵權訴訟，控告侵權的對象包含豐田「Prius」、「Lexus」系列以及本田「Accord」、「Odyssey」等主力車款，預估今後IV會在法院上要求損害賠償，而一旦法院認可IV的主張、豐田等車廠恐需支付數百億日圓賠償金。因5G普及、帶動可隨時連接網路的聯網車市場持續擴大。據日本富士經濟指出，2035年聯網車市場規模預估為9,420萬台、佔整體新車比重達8成。
