联储局主席认为需要长时间内保持低利率
联储局主席鲍威尔於上周接受美国国家广播电台(NPR) 访问时表示，尽管美国 8 月就业数据正面，反映许多工作岗位已经恢复，但仍有 1,100 万人没有重返工作岗位，其中包括酒店丶娱乐和旅游相关等工作，故局方不会放松警惕，并认为需要在很长一段时间内保持低利率，以支持经济活动，且可能需要数年的时间来衡量，并指不会过早撤回对经济需要的支持。对於新冠病毒对经济的冲击，鲍威尔重申鼓励居民遵守安全准则，例如戴口罩及保持社交距离等，因实际上，若居民遵守有关准则，美国将可以获得巨大的经济收益。
英国首相就脱欧谈判指不能继续拖延
英国首相约翰逊指，10 月 15 日将是与欧盟就脱欧谈判的最後期限。并扬言，倘若於当天或之前英国不能与欧盟达成「自由贸易协议」，便不应再奢望日後可与欧盟在此问题上达成协议。此外，英国计划立法确立在关税的自主权等，可能违反去年的「脱欧」协议，欧盟警告贸易谈判或因而告吹，消息使英镑期权隐含波动率急升，反映巿场对英国无序脱欧的忧虑重燃。
