因新冠肺炎(COVID-19)疫情再度擴散，中國封城、衝擊需求，中國工廠低價拋售過剩鋼材，也導致亞洲熱軋鋼捲價格急跌、創2個半月來新低，而亞洲價格續跌的話、恐阻礙日本鋼鐵廠推動的漲價措施。日經新聞18日報導，使用於製造業、營建業等廣範圍用途的鋼材「熱軋鋼捲」亞洲價格急跌，主因疫情再度擴散，中國封城、衝擊需求，造成庫存急增，中國廠商低價在亞洲市場販售過剩的鋼材。當前東亞市場的熱軋鋼捲交易價格(1.6mm厚、含運費)為每噸870美元左右、較前一週下跌5%(跌50美元)，創下約2個半月來新低水準。東亞熱軋鋼捲價格在3月下旬至4月期間，因為俄烏戰事、市場擔心俄產鋼材供應而揚升至960美元左右水準，而目前價格已自該高點下跌達9%(跌約90美元)。
