奧克蘭近半年確診首宗新冠病毒
新西蘭衛生部昨天(17 日) 通報，於首都奧克蘭確診一宗新冠病毒個案，為近半年以來有首見。衛生部聲明指，目前正調查確診個案是否與邊境或隔離檢疫有關，為謹慎起見，建議奧克蘭市民應保持社交距離及戴口罩。新西蘭出現懷疑本地感染個案消息，隨即令市場對新西蘭央行本月加息預期作出重估，由原先的百分百共識，降至約 85%。同時，亦拖累新西蘭元匯價下跌超過 1%至 69.5 美仙以下水平。而據彭博統計資料顯示，當地目前接種一劑以上疫苗佔比約 32%，按現時每日約4.3萬接種疫苗人次計算，約四個月後才能到達群體免疫約 75%水平，市場關注事件能否加快當地接種比率。
聯儲局主席認為社會已經適應新冠病毒
美國聯儲局主席鮑威爾於周二(17 日) 出席市政廳會議活動時表示，當地服務業仍失去數百萬份職位，這是經濟復蘇的一部分，且遠遠未達標。又認為聯儲局強有力的政策工具存在諸多局限性，相比之下，財政或政府政策更加有力。對於 Delta 變種病毒蔓延，鮑威爾表示，暫不清楚是否會對經濟復蘇產生顯著影響，但認為民眾及企業已經學會適應新冠病毒。
