新西蘭央行於周三(23 日)議息會後，如市場預期宣布加息 25 個基點，把其官方息率推升上 1 厘水平。另外，表示正計劃在市場上拋售其手上 500 億新西蘭元國債，實行把市場上過多的資金抽走。至於在其聲明中，新西蘭央行指現時當地的通脹率處 5.9%，遠高於該行定下的 1%-3%通脹目標範圍，但預計在「數年後」通脹將會重回 2%水平(over coming years to return towards the 2% midpoint)。明顯，新西蘭央行似正為長期對抗通脹作準備，並未因美國將進入加息周期而放慢加息步伐。
