日本政府四度宣佈進入緊急狀態
日本政府宣布因應東京都新冠疫情反彈，故須要第四度進入緊急狀態。此外，沖繩縣、千葉縣及大阪府等地，亦分別將緊急狀態，以及防止蔓延等重點措施。緊急狀態期間，所有食肆禁止提供酒類飲品，並只可營業至晚上 8 時，相關措施將維持至 8 月 22 日，意味大部份東京奧運賽事將閉門作賽。日本經濟於新冠疫情反覆下復蘇乏力，增加市場對日央行或有需要加推刺激政策的預期，這明顯與全球主要央行的收緊政策立場存在分歧，短期或限制日圓的避險吸引力。
巴拉圭計劃使比特幣作為法定貨幣
繼中南美國家薩爾瓦多上月宣布接受比特幣為法定貨幣之一後。有市場消息指，南美洲國家巴拉圭亦有計劃推出新的加密貨幣法案，據了解該法案最快將於周三 (14 日) 提交至國會，一旦通過，有可能接受比特幣作為法定貨幣，使巴拉圭成為加密貨幣投資者、企業及掘礦營運中心，這有助降低美國貨幣政策對當地經濟影響，而隨著更多中南美洲國家陸續接受比特幣作為法定貨幣，長遠或逐步降低美元的吸引力。
