Johnson opposed the French request for fishing rights
The British “Sun” quoted news as saying that Prime Minister Johnson firmly opposed France’s request for fishing rights, and said that unless the EU makes concessions on the request, the UK is ready to withdraw from negotiations. In addition, Reuters also quoted sources as saying that the chief negotiator of the EU, Barnier, said that he was pessimistic about the negotiations and believed that the two sides still have major differences on the issues of fishing rights, a level playing field and the management of trade agreements. The news immediately heated up the market’s expectations for the UK’s no-deal “Brexit”, dragging the pound exchange rate to a two-week low.
