The British government announces that the COVID-19 vaccine can be supplied as soon as next week
The British government announced that it has accepted the drug regulatory agency’s recommendation to approve the emergency use of a COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed by the United States and German pharmaceutical companies, which will be available as soon as next week, making the United Kingdom the first country to approve the use of this vaccine. The Minister of Health Xia Guoxian described it as good news, saying that the hospital is ready to receive the vaccine, and it is expected that high-risk individuals can start vaccination within a few days after receiving the vaccine. At present, the UK has ordered 40 million doses of the vaccine, which can provide 20 million people with two doses per person. Approximately 10 million doses of vaccine should be available soon, with 800,000 doses in the first shipment. As related vaccines must be delivered through ultra-low temperature equipment, the market is waiting to see the actual protective efficacy of vaccines to gauge whether they can achieve herd immunity.
