美國總統拜登上任後首趟亞洲行選擇先拜訪南韓，上週五(5月20日)訪問的第一站是三星電子(Samsung Electronics)位於平澤市(Pyeongtaek)的超大晶圓代工廠，他與南韓新任總統尹錫悅(Yoon Suk-yeol)在此會面，兩人宣布美韓將打造基於高科技、供應鏈合作的全新經濟與安全同盟。路透社、CBS News報導，拜登20日在三星廠房發表演說指出，烏俄戰爭帶來的經濟震撼，進一步顯示出保護關鍵供應鏈的必要性，如此一來，美國經濟及國家安全，才不會依賴「與我們的價值觀截然不同的國家」。「我認為，達標關鍵就在跟價值觀相同的親密夥伴合作，例如大韓民國(Republic of Korea)。」拜登表示，未來將由印太地區主導，目前正是美國與想法相近夥伴互相投資的時刻。
